Whats that sound? Do I hear rumblings of a new film? Stay tuned!
The Asheville International Children’s Film Festival wraps things up with the exclusive engagement of Story Point Media’s film Magic in the Forest at Posana Café in Asheville. The first movie of its kind, the locally produced Magic in the Forest is a green fable created in partnership with the U.S. Department of Forestry and the Blue Ridge Natural Heritage Area and filmed on location in the Pisgah Forest. A thought-provoking film that encourages all ages to appreciate the complexity and diversity of the natural world outside their door, it has been nominated for “best animated short” at the Orlando Film Festival and has won an Accolade Award of Excellence for its original music score.
The film tracks the efforts of a mall rat on a dreaded class trip to the woods where she’s swept away into a magical and mystifying primeval forest. Her only way out is to save a sacred seed from a desolate and deformed forest, a rampaging and roaring fire and the most evil tree ever mutated on this earth. Will she make it? Will the forest make it? Will the planet make it? It all depends on her.
The movie airs at 12:30 and again at 3 PM on Sunday, November 14 with a horticultural adventure at 2 PM. The film’s star, Victory Van Tuyl will be on hand to guide children on a journey as they plant “red emperor” tulip bulbs donated by the Biltmore Estate in association with the Netherland Bulb Company around the Vance Monument. Students at Evergreen Community Charter School will assist in the planting, which is sponsored by the Pack Square Conservancy.
Seating is limited. The movie and hors d’oeuvres are complimentary, but reservations must be made by November 10, 2010 contact us by email at louisa@storypointmedia.com. Souvenir gift bags will be handed out to children and a drawing for a free copy of the Magic in the Forest DVD will be held at each show time.
Posana Café is located at 1 Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville, North Carolina.

Here is a great comment from one of our fans.
I surely have enjoyed being what must be one of the first thousands of viewers of Magic at the Cradle that will view this new film of Cradle of Forestry. I have travelled throughout the Blue Ridge area since I was a young child and that has been a good number of years and I am amazed each time i travel the area. Your film captures the “spirit” of the forest for me as I see it new each time I pass through an area I have previously travelled. Travelling this area has been uplifting for me and I hope to travel it for a long time yet to come. In my life I have completely travelled the Blue Ridge Parkway twice, just last year completing it from the south to the north in a continuous line in just two trips extending from July 4, 2009 until just after Labor Day 2009 . Thank you again for an uplifting new film that I may see when I travel again to the Cradle of Forestry. It makes me want to come back within the next few days.
Thanks Ken for your awesome comment. We and everyone who worked on this film really appreciate it.
